Resolving an unknown product

Sometimes a barcode resolves a GTIN that isn't in the FDA GUDID database and isn't already in your team catalog. The scan still succeeds — the app just doesn't know what to call the product, so it asks you to register it.

  1. After scanning, the result card shows New Product with the unrecognized GTIN and any AIs the decoder did manage to extract (lot, expiration, serial).
  2. Review the parsed barcode data. If the lot or expiration was missed, tap Enter Lot/Expiration Manually to fill in the gaps.
  3. Tap Register. A dialog opens asking for the product name, manufacturer, and initial quantity.
  4. Save the registration. The product is added to your catalog and re-used automatically for every future scan of the same GTIN in that workspace.
Unknown product registration card

The screenshot above is the unknown-product card that appears immediately after a scan resolves an unrecognized GTIN. It's the same production widget that runs in the app — the live camera preview that precedes it is camera-driven and isn't depicted here.
