Smart Features

Healthcare Supply Manager's core barcode scanning and inventory workflows run without AI or OCR. The optional smart features below can be enabled when you want AI-assisted label reading or inventory recommendations.

Optional AI label reader

When barcode data is incomplete or a GTIN is not found in FDA GUDID, you can continue manually or use the optional label reader to extract product name, lot number, expiration date, and manufacturer from a label photo. This feature requires AI configuration; it is not required for normal barcode scanning.

Inventory turnover

Classifies every supply by usage velocity — fast mover, moderate, slow mover, or stagnant. The screen flags overstocked items that haven't moved, undersized par levels for fast movers, and supplies that are likely to expire before they're used.

Scan-pattern insights

Looks at the timing and location of scans across your team and surfaces patterns: bottlenecks at specific shelves, scan frequency drift, items that are being scanned but rarely dispensed. Each insight comes with a recommendation and a severity tag (info, success, warning, critical).

Using the app without AI

AI is optional. You can scan GS1 barcodes, use FDA GUDID lookup, manually enter product details, manage inventory, and sync your team data without configuring an AI provider. If a feature you'd find useful isn't listed, tell me what you need.
